Today we have with us Shivani who aspires to be a photographer and has undertaken various internships at different media corporates with varied profiles in each.
InternFeel (IF): Please tell us something about yourself. Where are you studying currently? What are your hobbies and interests?
Shivani Attri: My name is Shivani. I have Bachelors in Journalism and Mass Communication from KMV Jalandhar, Punjab. I am amateur photographer. Photography is what I want to pursue as my profession. I love adventure and reading books as well.
IF: Tell us something about your internship including stipend, duration and place?
Shivani: I interned at various places most of which was through references. At Value 360 communication, Delhi and NDTV, Delhi, I interned for a month and no stipend. At Overdrive magazine, Mumbai I was given a stipend of INR 10,000 and it was a 2 months internship
IF: Could you please highlight the work/research you carried out during your internship period?
Shivani: At Value 360, I worked as PR officer for a client named Mukul Goyal and did PR for him by contacting in different media houses. At NDTV, I wrote material for ndtvfood.com and collected information for the website. And finally for Overdrive, I clicked pictures as an automobile photographer for cars, bikes including product shoots and shoot at Auto Expo 2016, Noida.
IF: Can you give us interesting details about your experience – good and bad?
Shivani: During both the Delhi internships I felt people there have an attitude of being in big media houses which was not at all the case in Mumbai. People in overdrive are really good. But all the internships helped me a lot in learning
IF: How do you think these internships have helped you grow? In other words, what are your key takeaways from the internship?
Shivani: All the internships helped me understand the professional aspects and the different environments facilitated my progress in different phases and also helped me in learning different aspects of media industry.
IF: Have these internships had an impact on your career?
Shivani: Yes I have a lot more of opportunities due to these valuable internships.
IF: Lastly, do you have any words of advice or caution for students aspiring for these internships and reading this piece?
Shivani: I would say if they strive hard for what they want to achieve, they can achieve this in all possible ways. All the best!
