Shuvendra: Hi, I am Shuvendra Mohan. I think everyone is different and they have their own capabilities and in my context I think I always try to do different work from the going on chain process. Besides achievement in studies I am also the singer and dancer of my college with active participator in sports too.

IF: Which internship you got the chance to take? What is it all about? Stipend, duration and place?

Shuvendra: I got opportunity for internship at Aerospace Engineering Department, IIT BOMBAY. I was there for about 4 months, unpaid but was benefited by the allowances.

IF: How you came to know about the internship? To what all sources you kept yourself connected?

Shuvendra: I got news form IITB website itself, was in regular touch with it.

IF:Tell us on the procedure to apply for the internship. Who all are eligible to apply for this internship?

Shuvendra: Only 2nd and 3rd year B.tech students are eligible, branches they can choose accordingly. Applicants should also be in top 10% in their college and should have a good rank in any national test before. All application process are online based.

IF: Let’s talk about how competitive is the selection process.

What qualities of yours, you believe helped you in having an edge over the selection process? What key things you feel were looked for by the selectors?

Shuvendra: When we talk about IITs and other top institutes competitions are always based on “better among best” process. One should have always a mind set of having a deep knowledge of course work but you should also think beyond your syllabus. Innovative thoughts with studies should go on side by side only studying and passing exam doesn’t work..

IF: About when you got the news for the selection? How was the celebration?

Shuvendra: Exactly when i got confirmation mail i felt like the best moment of the year. I still remember I called up my DAD and gave him the news. He was so happy which can’t be described in words.

IF: What all preparations you did after the results in view of the internship?

Shuvendra: I just went through the topic that was given, although it was very new for me but my guide helped me a lot in discussing over works to be done, before internship started.

IF:Please tell us with what work/research project you carried out during the internship period? It’s application in near future and your work in it?

Shuvendra: My research project was basically based on RC Airships which included design and fabrication process of its propulsion system. Airships are known to be future aircrafts though not very popular in India but is used in America and other european countries for many applications such
as carrying goods and even as passenger aircraft.

IF :What was the best thing about the work culture and the internship? What all things you liked there?

Shuvendra: In the lab environment was so friendly and helpful that there was always a positive and healthy environment all through the period. Everyone in lab always stood for each other in any circumstances.

IF: Were there any special events during the internships?

Shuvendra: During internship there was an International workshop held for 2 days in which i was a volunteer. We also attended Africa-India Aircargo buisness 2014, my life’s first corporate party meeting.

IF: What was the guidance provided by your guide/mentor? What all support you received from administration at the intern place?

Shuvendra: My Guide Prof. R.K.Pant was so helpful and friendly. I felt like he always knew what complications we went through the project even if we didn’t tell him. I think we rarely meet such Professors in our life time.

IF: Let’s now talk about some negatives.

What problems you or your friends faced, regards to the internship, which your juniors may be able to avoid?

Shuvendra: Yes, there are some positive and some negatives everywhere, but negatives always follow you when you have less knowledge of dealing with situations. Like accommodation problem occurs there at IITB for interns but you can get it if you have applied online earlier even it takes time.

IF: Was this your first internship / training?

Shuvendra: No, earlier I had my training at Center for Civil Aviation Training at New Delhi.

IF: To which all people you would, like to thank in context of this internship?

Shuvendra: I would like to thank my parents first for their support every time as without their help and blessings nothing is possible, else I would like to thank my elder brother who is also an Engineer and always supports me whenever I need him, and finally would like to thank my Guide, JRFs and project staffs of Lighter than Air systems lab for their support.

IF: How much difference this internship period has made in your intellectual capabilities and mindset. In broad terms what are your gains from this?

Shuvendra: After my internship period was over I was totaly transformed into some other person with different thinking capabilities. Even my mind setup of thinking and dealing with situations were also changed.

IF: Advice for juniors? Which can help them in getting internships in their future college life and also advice for making the best out of it.

Shuvendra: Internships are very important aspects of your life. You always think of doing something innovative in your life and here you get that chance. Here you start your basics of work and group activities in a professional way.

IF: What are your future plans after this internship and how much impact this internship will have on it?

Shuvendra: M.tech and Ph.D are my future plans for career point of view, besides to serve my country in research field is my main aim. And trained as a research intern will surely help me.

IF: Any views about this initiative of InternFeel, and how beneficial it would be? Any suggestions for improvement?

Shuvendra: Its a good initiative by InternFeel to encourage students in internship field. I have seen many of my juniors asking of what to do in future, from here they can get the right and satisfactory answer.

IF: It was so nice to know all about this. We agree you would have been busy with your academics. Even then you took out time for this. We thank you and wish you best of luck for all your future endeavors.

Shuvendra: Sharing opinions should always be done. This is how we get to know each other, I personally always stand for those who need me in any way, I would conclude by this that Talent with Hardwork always work, both are incomplete without each other. All the Best.
